Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.

Isaiah 1:17

Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.

Merry Christmas kids!

Well, Dan did it again!  This time he nearly brought Cindy to tears...he looked up at her with big puppy dog eyes and said, "Dan go America?"

Well...anyone???

We really would like to find an American home for these kids, next week we will find out if they are eligible for adoption.  We're going to try and get a picture of them together, so watch for it!

We Skyped some friends in America today...Artur was especially happy to talk with them.   The most important "tool" we brought with us (other than our own toilet paper)  is the computer with Skype downloaded...the kids have opportunity to see and talk with friends at home, but more importantly, it is our lifeline to our friends and families!

We think Dema is like his momma and papa--he enjoys his own space...but when he talked to his "nephew" today he said to me, "Bubba, Dema, school?"  I am guessing he was asking if he and Bubs will be in school together...

The kids were having a great time watching the videos from last nights performance...they were surprised to learn that the videos made it all the way to America!

Artur always has a huge smile on his face--we found that he is really ticklish right around the hamstrings!  (That'll teach him to bounce a ball off my head!)

This was a good old hair messing match, but I got to the camera too late!

Dema and the other kids were enjoying the sliced peppers, but didn't care much for the celery or hard boiled eggs!

Today we got to go to the Ukraine version of Lowes!  Blue exterior, metal racking, building materials inside and out, and of course they had a  Christmas World!  We got both the young boys and girls groups 6'Christmas trees with lights and extension cords!

Here are the boys fluffing their tree--the caretaker wasn't too happy with how they hung the lights, so she ended up redoing them!

The finished product!  Unfortunately, once the "boss lady" got in the act, the boys all stepped back and let her have at it!  One of the boys came to me and said, "teacher NO!"  But, I was too intimidated to try and shoo her off!  So, I too just stood back and watched...

Andre!!!  He always asks, "Momma, Papa??"

It should be no surprise that the girls tree has a hint of professionalism!

  1. Hey guys, sounds like amazing times you are spending with the kids! A note about Dan and his sister: there are 4 kids in that family. Youngest is Dasha who is about 9 years old, she is in the group next to Nastya's. And then there's Dan and Nastya who you know (who are about 10 and 11 respectively), and then there's their big brother Vova (13) from the other building. They are GREAT kids!! I hope you can find someone who is interested in them! :)
